Qualcomm and Stellantis Partnered to Bring in-Vehicle Technologies

On Thursday, 14th April 2022, Qualcomm Technologies, a semiconductor company and Stellantis, an automobile company announced a multi-year partnership for the use of the latest and new Snapdragon Digital Chassis technology across the vehicle lineups of Stellantis.

Without revealing the value of the deal, the companies said that, fourteen brands of Stellantis including Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Chrysler, Dodge, Citroen, Fiat, DS, Lanica, Jeep, Maserati, Peugeot, Opel, Vauxhall and Ram are going to be using the vehicle cockpit and 5G telematics technology of Qualcomm, which will be starting in the year 2024 along with the brand known as Maserati for being the first one.

Stellantis said that, it is going to be using the next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms for the purpose of powering the in-car communication and the infotainment systems for the STLA SmartCockpit, which is now being designed and engineered together with the Foxconn and Amazon.

Stellantis said, the Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms are also going to be delivering a fully immersive in-cabon experience, along with enabling the premium audio and crystal-clear voice communications throughout the cabin of the vehicles.

Carlos Tavares, chief executive officer of Stellantis said, the broad experience of Qualcomm Technologies in the automotive industry and scale as a leader in semiconductor is going to enable them for vertically integrating their main elements of the company’s new platforms and closely managing the complete electronics supply chain.

Cristiano Amon, president and CEO of Qualcomm said, by creating an open, comprehensive and scalable automotive platforms, which includes systems, software, semiconductors and services, they are now empowering Stellantis for leading the transformation to the digital era of the automobiles.
