Canada Approves first Plant-Based Covid-19 Vaccine

On Thursday, 24th February 2022, Canada approved the use of Covifenz, which has been the first covid-19 vaccine derived by the plants jointly developed by the companies including Medicago Inc. and GlaxoSmithKline Plc., and the covid-19 vaccine has also been approved for the people between the age group of 18 years to 64 years on the safety and effectiveness.

According to the Health Canada, have not been established in the people, who are younger than 18 years or the people older than 64 years of age, and the approval of the plant-based novel corona virus vaccine can possibly help in overcoming the hesitancy of the covid-19 vaccine among many people as the countries have also been struggling to increase the rates of vaccination.

The vaccine ‘CoviFenz’  has been made from the proteins based on the plants that has been looking like the corona virus and it is using the adjuvant of GlaxoSmithKline that is containing Squalene, DL-alpha-tocopherol, polysorbate 80, and also phosphate-buffered saline.

The other ingredients has also including the potassium phosphate monobasic anhydrous, along with sodium phosphate dibasic anhydrous, and also water for the injection. The company ‘Medicago’ has been using the living plants as the bioreactors for the purpose of producing a particle that has been mimicking the target virus, and the particles like the virus have also been developed through a process of the infiltration, harvest, incubation synthesis and purification.
