WHO: New Covid-19 Variant ‘XE’ Found in the United Kingdom

In a report, the World Health Organization (WHO) said, a new variant of the novel corona virus has been found in the United Kingdom, and this new variant, which is known as XE, might be more transmissible than any of the strain of the novel corona virus.

The health experts of the United Kingdom said that, the new mutation XE of the virus is appeared to 10 percent more transmissible than the BA.2 sub-variant of the Omicron covid-19 variant. The WHO also said that, the early estimates has also indicated that, the advantage of community growth rate of 10 percent as compared to the BA.2 Omicron variant, however, this funding is also requiring further confirmation.

The health agency of the United Kingdom said that, the covid-19 XE variant had been firstly detected on 19th January 2022 and till now, the country has recorded 637 cases of this new covid-19 variant.

According to the latest survey conducted by the Office for the National Statistic said, the BA.2 Omicron covid-19 variant has been spreading rapidly across the globe and around 4.9 million in the United Kingdom had been estimated for having the corona virus in the last week of the month of March 2022, which has been 600,000 more cases than recorded in the previous week.
