WhatsApp Launches New Kept Messages Feature

TECHNOLOGY

One of the few instant messaging apps that consistently updates its features to provide the best user experience is WhatsApp. It turns out that developers are currently releasing a brand-new feature called “Kept Messages.”

The Kept Messages feature is useful if you want to keep certain messages from disappearing and keep them visible to everyone in a group chat forever, according to a new WABetaInfo report.

Even after a message expires, if you keep it, it will continue to appear in the chat. However, these messages will be under the control of everyone in the group, and anyone can delete them at any time. If you want to check these messages in the future, the “Kept Messages” section can be useful.

The ability to mark messages as starred for disappearing chats will be removed from WhatsApp when the new feature is released because it will be redundant. The “Starred Messages” section will also be removed by the developers. Simply open a group chat and tap on the group’s name to locate it. There is a section called “Kept Messages” here, and unless someone deletes them, all saved messages will show up there.

The Kept Messages section is currently only available to selected beta testers who are using the most recent version of WhatsApp Business. However, the messaging platform is currently rolling out the feature to new users, so it may take some time before the section appears on your device.

WhatsApp also added several new features, such as support for emoji reactions for status, private audience, and more, and gave hints that it was working on a transcription feature that could convert lengthy audio messages into text.
