US to Send 1.75 million Covid-19 Vaccine Doses to Mexico

On Wednesday, 18th August 2021, Marcelo Ebrard, foreign minister of Mexico said, the country is all set for receiving the first batch of the 1.75 million doses of the novel corona virus vaccine developed by Moderna for the United States of America.

Last week, the government of Mexico said, Kamala Harris, vice president of the United States had promised to send the 3.5 million doses of the covid-19 vaccine developed by Moderna and 5 million covid-19 doses of the AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine, and on Wednesday, 18th August 2021, Cofepris, health regulator of Mexico said, it had given the approval to the two-shot vaccine of Moderna for the emergency use.

The foreign minister of Mexico said, at least 42 percent of the overall population of the country of Mexico have been vaccinated by the first dose of the covid-19 vaccine, but the Delta variant of the novel corona virus has been spreading rapidly in the country and the hesitancy of the vaccine is also increasing in the younger people.

On 18th August 2021, Mexico has recorded 28,953 new and confirmed cases of the novel corona virus infection, which has been responsible in bringing the total number of the covid-19 cases to 3,152,205, and this figure has been the highest daily increase in the cases since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, but the health ministry of Mexico said that, the real figures of the covid-19 cases are much higher.
