US Ordered More 200-Million Doses of Moderna Covid-19 Vaccine

On Wednesday, 16th June 2021, the company ‘Moderna’ said, the government of the United States of America has reached to a deal for purchasing 200 million more doses of the novel corona virus vaccine developed by the company ‘Moderna’, along with the option for purchasing the boosters for the new mutated corona virus variants, which had been in the pipeline.

This purchase of the corona virus vaccine has confirmed the order total of US to 500 million doses of the two-shot vaccine, and so far, the company Moderna has supplied 217 million doses of the corona virus vaccine along with 110 million more doses of the vaccine to be delivered by the end of 2021 and 90 million covid-19 vaccine doses in the first quarter of the year 2022.

Stephane Bancel, CEO of Moderna said, they appreciate this collaboration with the government of the United States for the additional doses of the corona virus vaccine developed by Moderna that can possibly be used for the purpose of primary vaccination, that includes children, in an attempt to defeat the global corona virus pandemic.

He also said, they are going to remain focused on being proactive as the novel corona virus has been evolving by leveraging the flexibility of their mRNA platform for staying ahead of the newly emerging mutated corona virus variants. The next biggest threat to the country is coming from the Delta variant of the novel corona virus that was firstly identified in India and is currently dominating in the United Kingdom, where the cases of the Delta corona virus variant are increasing.
