On Thursday, 17th June 2021, the government of the United States of America has issued guidance to ease the way for the delivery of the products, that includes ventilators, face masks and the novel corona virus vaccines for tackling the novel corona virus pandemic to the highly sanctioned countries like Venezuela, Iran and Syria.
According to a report, the Treasury Department of the United States has issued the general licenses, that were related to those three countries, which are aimed at allowing more corona virus related activities and transactions but were stopped before lifting any of the sanctions.
This move comes into action after Joe Biden, President of United States of America, on his first day in the office had issued a national security memorandum, that have been calling for his administration for undertaking a review of the sanction’s programs of US for the purpose of evaluating whether they had been hindering the responses to the novel corona virus pandemic.
A US Treasury said, although they are having the comprehensive humanitarian general licenses in all of their programs, they have seen some gaps, and he also added that, the obstacles had been dealt with on a case-by-case basis, that had been involving the high cost and delays.
The Treasury also said, this is now lowering that barrier, and the administration of former president Donald Trump, had been criticized by several of the human rights groups for resisting any kind of easing the sanction rules against the countries like Venezuela, Iran and Syria, that had mostly been targeted under the campaigns of maximum pressure for easing the covid-19 pandemic related issues.
