US Government Commits $1-Billion Investment to Widen Covid-19 At-Home Tests

On Wednesday, 7th October 2021, the government of the United States have announced an investment of one billion dollar in the at-home rapid novel corona virus tests, which the government said, is going to provide help in multiplying the availability of the test by the end of the year 2021.

By December 2021, there are going to be 200 million rapid novel corona virus tests to the people of the United States in every month, along with tens of millions more tests that are going to arrive on the market in the upcoming weeks as said by Jeffrey Zients, corona virus coordinator of the government of United states.

Jeffrey Zients also said, the administration is going to be doubling the total number of the sites in the free pharmacy testing program to 20,000 tests of the federal government of the country, and the changes has also been reflecting the increasing emphasis of the government of the United States on the at-home testing as the tools for decreasing the spread of the novel corona virus.

In the month of September 2021, Joe Biden, president of the United States said, he is going to be using the Defense Production Act for the purpose of increasing the production of the rapid testing kits, and it is also going to be working with the retailers including Walmart and Amazon, for expanding the availability of the corona virus testing kits, and Joe Biden has also pledged 2 billion dollars in an effort to do 280 million covid-19 tests.
