US Extends Covid-19 Border Closures with Canada and Mexico

On Wednesday, 21st July 2021, the homeland security department of the United States said, the land borders of the United States with the countries including Mexico and Canada are going to be remained closed for all the non-essential travel until 21st August 2021.

The government of the United States have closed the state borders for all the non-essential travel at the beginning of the novel corona virus pandemic in March 2020, and the country has now been continuing to extend the restrictions on a monthly basis, and it has also been extended for a month till August 2021.

The announcement for the extension came after the government of Canada has announced its decision for allowing the fully vaccinated travellers from the United States, which is going to start from 9th August 2021, and according to the reports, the government of United States is yet to make the decision on whether only fully vaccinated travellers are going to be allowed whenever the borders will be opened up for the purpose of non-essential travel.

Canada has also announced that, only the fully vaccinated people of the United States and the permanent residents of Canada, which are currently residing in the United States are going to be allowed to travel from 9th August 2021, and the government of United States has also been planning for a new round of the high-level meetings for the purpose of discussing the travel restrictions amid the pressure from the different types of businesses in the country of Canada and the government of United States is going to open the land borders.
