Rochelle P. Wallensky, director of the US CDC, endorsed the recommendation by the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) that the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Novavax should be used as another primary series option for adults in the United States.

The COVID-19 vaccine of Novavax is an important tool in the Coronavirus pandemic and it provides a familiar type of COVID-19 vaccine technology for adult people in the country. The CDC said having multiple types of vaccines offers a greater number of options and flexibility for the people of the United States.

The vaccines package harmless proteins of the Coronavirus along with another ingredient called an adjuvant that mainly helps the immune system respond to the COVID-19 virus in the future. The vaccines using protein subunits have been used for over 30 years in the United States, starting with the first licensed vaccine to treat Hepatitis B.

Rochelle P. Walensky said they have expanded the available options for adults in the United States by recommending another effective and safe COVID-19 vaccine. If you are waiting for a COVID-19 vaccine built on a different technology than the available vaccines, this is the time to join the millions of people who have been vaccinated.
