US CDC: BA.2 Sub-variant of Omicron Makes Up 11.6% of Covid-19 Variants in US

On Tuesday, 8th March 2022 said, the US CDC said, the BA.2 sub-variant of the Omicron covid-19 variant had been estimated for being 11.6 percent of the novel corona virus variants that are circulating in the United States as of 5th March 2022. The scientists have also been tracking an increase in the cases caused by the BA.2 covid-19 variant, and the dominant variant in the region of South Africa that is spreading very fast in the parts of Europe and Asia.

Last month, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that, the BA.2 sub variant of the Omicron covid-19 variant has been appearing for becoming more transmissible than the BA.1 sub-variant of the Omicron based on the initial data. Last month, the top public health body of Africa said that, the BA.2 sub-variant of the Omicron covid-19 does not cause more serious disease than the BA.1 sub-variant of the Omicron covid-19 variant.

The daily cases of the Omicron covid-19 variant in the United States has also started to decrease in the recent weeks after touching the record levels in the month of January 2022, along with the US CDC that has been dramatically easing the guidelines of the novel corona virus for the masks especially in the schools.

The other sub-variants of the Omicron covid-19 variant have also been circulating in the country since the month of December 2022 are now making up around 73.7 percent and 14.7 percent of the covid-19 variants.
