UK to Offer Covid-19 Booster Vaccines to People Over 50 years

On Tuesday, 14th September 2021, Sajid Javid, health secretary of United Kingdom said, the government of United Kingdom is going to be accepting the recommendation from an expert panel and it will be starting the rollout of the booster covid-19 vaccine shots across the United Kingdom for the people, who are more than 50 years of age from the upcoming week.

While tabling the winter strategy of UK government for the purpose of tackling the novel corona virus, Sajid Javid said, the National Health Service (NHS) has been preparing for the rollout of the vaccine booster followed by the earlier recommendation of the Joint Committee on vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

Sajid Javid said, he can now confirm that, he has accepted the advice of JCVI and also that, the NHS England is preparing to offer the novel corona virus booster doses that will be starting from the upcoming week.

He also said, there has been evidence that, the protection offered by the novel corona virus vaccines have been decreased over time, specifically in the older people of the country, who are at a greater risk, so the novel corona virus booster shots are very important for the purpose of keeping the novel corona virus under control for a longer period.

Among the other announcements for the winter strategy of living with the virus of the government of United Kingdom without having any need for resorting to the lockdowns in the future, Sajid Javid has also outlined another plan of the contingency measures, which is also including the face cover and work from home.
