Subtype BA.2 of Omicron Covid-19 Variant Spreading Rapidly Across Globe

A new subtype of the Omicron Covid-19 variant has been spreading across the world including the United States, Denmark, United Kingdom, Sweden, India and Several other countries across the globe, and the actual impact of these mutations of the variant is still not clear.

The world is still suffering from the first type of the Omicron covid-19 variant known as BA. 1 which has been significantly more contagious then the previous variants of the corona virus and now the subtype BA. 2 of the Omicron variant has emerged.

Around 400 people have been infected by the BA. 2 subtype of the Omicron covid-19 variant during first ten days of the month of January 2022 in the United Kingdom, and the subtype has also been detected in over 40 other countries across the world.

The directory known as PANGO of the novel corona viruses, that has been regularly updated by the scientists from the Universities including Cambridge, Oxford and Edinburg has been listing Denmark as the most affected are from the subtype of the variant with 79 percent of the cases detected in the country so far.

Denmark has been followed by the United Kingdom, India, Sweden and Singapore with 6 percent, 5 percent, and 2 percent simultaneously. Although, it should also be noted that, the detection of the subtype has been depending on the ability of the healthcare systems to the sequence of the RT PCR tests.
