Scientists Sets New Record in Nuclear Fusion Technology in UK

TECHNOLOGY

The scientists in the United Kingdom said that, they have recently achieved a new milestone in the production of the nuclear fusion energy and also imitating the way in which the energy is produced in the Sun. The energy produced by the nuclear fusion has been one of the long standing quest of mankind as it has been promising to be low in carbon and safer than how the nuclear energy has now being produced along with an efficiency that can exceed by 100 percent technically.

A team at the facility of the Joint European Torus (JET) located near Oxford in the central region of the United Kingdom has now generated 59 megajoules of the sustained energy during an experiment in the month of December and one kilogram of the fusion fuel has been containing around 10 million times as much energy as one kilogram of oil, coal or gas.

The energy had been produced in a machine known as tokamak, which has been a apparatus shaped like doughnuts and the site of Joint European Torus (JET) has been the biggest operational site of its kind across the globe.

During the process, the tritium and deuterium, which had been the isotopes of hydrogen are heated to the temperatures that are 10 times hotter than the centre of the Sun for the purpose of creating the plasma, and this process is held in the place by using the electromagnets of the superconductor as it is responsible for releasing tremendous energy in the form of heat by spinning.
