Report: New Omicron Subvariants BA.4, BA.5 Start Spreading In US

According to the reports, just weeks after a new omicron subvariant has taken over as the dominant strain circulating in the United States and the two other subvariants have now entered the scene and are rapidly spreading in the United States.

The BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron covid-19 variants, which had been first identified in the country of South Africa and they had been responsible for 13 percent of the novel corona virus cases in the United States. According to the estimates from the US CDC, it has been a significant jump from the beginning of the month of May 2022, when the new strains have made up around 1 percent of the corona virus infections.

Some of the experts has also predicted the pair of the omicron subvariants is going to be taking over the dominant spot from the BA.2.12.1. Alexandre Bolze of Helix, which is a company that is tracking the novel corona virus variants said, till this weekend, there had been uncertainty regarding whether the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants are going to compete with the ongoing and current dominant variant.

He also said, he is now expecting that, the BA.4 and BA.5 are going to be become the most dominant strains across the United States. The increase of the BA.4 and BA.5 can possibly lead to an uptick in the corona virus infections, which has been a long plateau for the latest novel corona virus wave.
