Rare Monkeypox Cases Detected Across Europe and North America

The health authorities in North America and Europe have now detected dozens of the suspected and confirmed cases of the monkeypox since the beginning of May 2022 and this surge in the cases of the rare disease has been sparking concerns the disease endemic in the parts of Africa is spreading rapidly.

Canada had been the latest country for reporting the disease and it had been investigating that, more than a dozen suspected cases of the monkeypox after the countries including Portugal and Spain detected over 40 possible and verified cases.

The United Kingdom has confirmed around 9 cases since the 6th May 2022 and the United States of America has also verified its very first monekypox case by saying that, a man in the eastern state of Massachusetts had been tested positive for the corona virus after visiting Canada.

The monkeypox infection has now infected thousands of people in many parts of the central and western region of Africa in recent years but it has been rare in the regions including North America and Europe. The World Health Organization (WHO) said that, it had been coordinating with the United Kingdom and the European health officials over the new outbreaks of the disease.

Maria Van Kerkhove, an infectious disease epidemiologist said, they are really needing to better understand the extent of the monkeypox in the endemic countries for the purpose of understanding how it is circulating and the risk that it is possessing for the people.
