Optum UK To Purchase UK’s Health Tech Company ‘EMIS’ For $1.5-Billion

On Friday, 17th June 2022, Optum UK, an unit of UnitedHealth Group has been planning to acquire the EMIS Group in an all-cash deal that is valuing the health technology of the United Kingdom at around 1.5 billion dollars.

As per the terms of the deal, an affiliate of the Optum business of UnitedHealth in the United Kingdom known as Bordeaux UK Holdings II Limited, has now offered 1,925 pence per share in cash that has been reflecting a premium of 49 percent to the closing price of EMIS.

According to the reports, the directors of the EMIS has been intending to the unanimously has recommended the deal to the shareholders and the company ‘EMIS’ has been providing the healthcare software, along with the information technology and several other services in the United Kingdom along with a focus on the primary care and the pharmacy systems.

The UK business of the United Kingdom has now worked in the country for around 20 years supporting the National Health Service, and the company has been describing itself as a healthcare software, along with the services and consultancy business for more than 45 million people in the United Kingdom along with the medicine optimization services across the country.

Rob Sergeant, chief executive officer of Optum UK said, the deal for acquiring EMIS is going to bring more advanced technology solutions and capabilities to the general practitioners and NHS for improving the patient care.
