Meta and Google Required to Find and Remove Child Pornography Under EU Draft Rules

Meta, Google and several other online service providers are going to be required for the purpose identifying and removing the online child pornography under the proposed rules of the European Commission, which has been a move that is said can put the communications of the people at risk.

The companies that are failing for complying with the rules have been facing fines for around 6 percent of annual income or global turnover of the companies, which has been set by the European Countries.

The executive of the European Union said that, its proposal that is announced has been aimed for replacing the current system of the voluntary detection and also reporting by the companies, which has been proven for being insufficient for the purpose of protecting the children.

The new draft rules has also cited that, more than one million reports of the child sexual abuse in the European Union infected with the novel corona virus in 2020 has been a factor in the 64 percent increase in such kind of the reports in 2021 as compared to the reports of 2020. On top of that, around 60 percent of the child sexual abuse material across the world has been hosted on the servers of the European Union.
