Hitachi Rail To Build New Railcar Facility In US

Hitachi Rail, a rolling stock manufacturing company is all set for building the company’s new factory for the railcars in the region of Washington County in the region of Maryland, the United States.

The new factory has been developed with an investment of 70 million dollars, and it is going to be used for the construction of the new railcars of 8000 series for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority in US. The facility is having enough capacity for serving the broader market of North American railway and this new site is going to be building modern railcars for the region of Washington DC, and the facility is expected to start operation in 2023-2024.

The facility has been featuring 307,000 square feet of space, and it is going to have the potential for manufacturing around 20 railcars per month on a single shift once the facility becomes completely operational, and this new facility is going to be suitable for constructing different types of the trains ranging from the metros and trams to the high speed trains.

This new facility of Hitachi Rail is also said to sustain a total of 1,300 jobs in the regions that is including 460 employees who are going to be working for the company at the facility. Andrew Barr, chief executive officer of Hitachi Rail Group said, he is very delighted for confirming the location for the company’s new train facility in the United States in the region of Washington County in Maryland, US.
