Google Bans Several Apps That Were Secretly Harvesting Data

Google has now banned the dozens of Android apps from the Google Play store after finding the apps that is included a line of code that had been discretely harvesting the data of the users.

According to the reports, some of the banned apps had been the Muslim prayer apps that are downloaded more than 10 times, which has been a popular highway speed trap detection app and also a QR-Code reading application had also been found for including the data-scraping code.

The researchers had reportedly linked the company based in Panama responsible for the code to a company based in Virginia that is working with the national security agencies of the United States.

The line of code, which has been a part of SDK is developed by the Measurement Systems S. De R.L., which had been found for collecting the rich data including the precise location information, along with the phone numbers and email, along with the passwords and devices when the users have used a feature of cut and paste.

The spokesman of Google said that, Google has banned the apps on 25th March 2022, and is now allowing the apps for returning to the Google Play store once they have deleted the code and several apps have been already back online and are now available for the purchase.
