Experts: UK Lassa Fever Deaths Showcasing Global Threat of Infectious Diseases

The death of a new-born baby affected with the Lassa fever in the United Kingdom last week has now raised the concerns about the global threat that has been posed by the deadly and infectious disease.

The Lassa Fever has an acute viral haemorrhagic sickness, that has been similar to the Ebola virus and the people has become infected through the exposure of the virus to the food or several other items that have been contaminated with the urine of the rats infected by the virus.

So far, the government of the United Kingdom has confirmed three cases of the Lassa fever, and it has been the first time when the acute viral sickness has now emerged in the United Kingdom in around 13 years, and it has normally been seen in the western region of Africa.

The officials of the Health Security Agency of the United Kingdom have closely been monitoring hundreds of the people that had been identified as the potential contacts of the three cases of covid-19.

The UK officials also said that, the three confirmed cases of the Lassa fever in the United Kingdom is now sadly including one death and it has been a reminder of the country’s interconnected world along with the need for continuing for investing in the preparedness of the outbreak and response efforts.
