European Union Tells Member Countries to Suspend Travel From South African Countries

The European Comission has recently come forward with an official proposal to the member countries of the European Union for putting all the travel from the countries in the southern region of Africa at halt after the new novel corona virus variant had been detected in South Africa.

In a statement on the omicron Covid-19 variant, Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission has urged the member countries of the European Union for stopping the travel from the countries that had been affected by the new novel corona virus variant in order for stopping the spread of the new covid-19 variant in Europe.

Ursula von der Leyen said, the European Commission has proposed to the member states of the European Union for activating the emergency halt on travel from the South African countries and several other countries that are affected by the new variant for the purpose of limiting the spread if the new corona virus variant.

She also said, all the air travel to the affected countries should be suspended, and the countries should suspend the travel until the European Commission have a clear understanding about the risk possessed by the new corona virus variant.

Ursula von der Leyen added that, the travelers coming from the South African countries to the European block should follow the strict quarantine rules as the measures of the precautions, and the proposal has also been following a warning that, the European Union had been planning to recommend the member nations to stop all means of travel from the southern region of Africa.
