Ed Sheeran, a British singer-songwriter, has announced the release of his fifth studio album, which is highlights his own personal struggle with anxiety, depression, and fear.
According to a report, the acoustic album, which will be released on May 5, 2023, will conclude his mathematical album era, which began more than a decade ago with the letter ‘+’. The album was co-produced and written by Aaron Dessner of the National. It comes after Dessner’s most recent release, ‘F64,’ which was released on January 19, 2023, and was dedicated to Jamal Edwards, his friend and the founder of SBTV, who passed away in 2013 at the age of 31.
For a decade, he had been working on ‘Subtract’ to create the ideal acoustic album by writing and recording hundreds of songs with a clear idea of what he wanted it to sound like. Ed Sheeran stated that a series of occurrences altered his life and mental health at the beginning of 2022.
Ed Sheeran claimed that working on the album helped him deal with health issues his pregnant wife was having, Edwards’ death, and defending his creative integrity in court. He wrote the songs without thinking about what they would be, just wrote whatever came to him.
