On Wednesday, 23rd June 2021, a government official said, the creator of the McAfee Antivirus software ‘John McAfee’, has been found dead in the cell of a jail located near Barcelona, and he was found dead hours before a preliminary ruling has been issued from a Spanish court in the favour of the extradition of John McAfee to the Unites States for facing the criminal charges related to tax.
The security personnel present at the ‘Brains 2’ penitentiary located near the northeaster region of Barcelona have tried to revive John McAfee, 75, but the medical team of the jail finally certified his death, as per a statement from the regional government.
The national court of Spain had given the approval for the extradition of the detained John McAfee, an antivirus software entrepreneur to the United States of America, where John McAfee had been wanted on the criminal charges related to the taxes, which was carrying a prison sentence of around 30 years.
The prosecutors of Tennessee have charged John McAfee for the purpose of evading the taxes after failing to report the income, which has been prepared from prompting the cryptocurrencies, as he did the consultancy work, along with the income from different speaking events and also selling the rights of his life story for a documentary.
John McAfee had been arrested in October 2020 at the international airport of Barcelona, and at that time, a judge has given the orders that, John McAfee should be held in the prison while awaiting for the outcome of a hearing in the extradition.
