Covid-19 Vaccine Decision for Children Under 5 Years Delayed in US

On Friday, 11th February 2022, the US FDA said that, it had now reviewed the new trial information, which had come in since the company ‘Pfizer’ has requested for an emergency use authorization and has also decided that, it will be needing more data before moving ahead with the decision.

The US FDA said that, the parents of the children under the age of 5 years have been awaiting the covid-19 vaccine for around 18 million children in the age group of 5 years should possibly be reassured that, the agency has been taking the time for making sure that, it will be meeting the standard, which has been set for the approval.

Dr. Peter Marks, director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research said, if something is not going to be meeting the standards, they cannot proceed for the ward, and he also said that, some of the new data that has been pushing the US FDA for delaying the decision for the vaccination of the children in the United States.

The companies Pfizer and BioNTech has also submitted data on the first two doses of the novel corona virus vaccines that had been planned as a regimen of three doses for the particular age group previously as per the request from the US FDA but the companies has not revealed the efficacy and efficacy of the data.

The companies also said that, they are going to continue the trial to the doses to all the children with the three shots of the vaccine and are expected for having the data in the month of April 2022.
