Austal USA and Saildrone Partner to build high-tech Unmanned Marine Vessels in Alabama

Austal USA and Saildrone Inc. have partnered to manufacture a cutting-edge marine vessel that sail the high seas without a crew. The two companies announced their strategic partnership in connection with the Serveyor autonomous unscrewed surface vehicle from Saildrone Inc.

This partnership combines the technology of Saildrone Inc. with the advanced manufacturing capabilities of Austal USA. The two companies said that this partnership will provide the US Navy, and other US government agency customers a cutting-edge solution for the awareness of the maritime domain, with hydrographic surveys and other requiring persistent wide area coverage.

 According to reports, the partnership will provide help in meeting the fast growing demand for Saildrone Surveyors. The Surveyor has been designed specifically for deep-ocean mapping, and the applications of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), both above and below the surface.

All the vehicles of Saildrone are autonomous and unmanned, and provide endurance, cost-effectiveness, and reliability operations. Austal USA, which is an expert in aluminium shipbuilding, will be fabricating the aluminium hulls of the Surveyor.
