Amazon to Offer Insurance to SME Businesses in UK

The company ‘Amazon’ is going to start offering insurance to the small and medium scale businesses customers across the United Kingdom, which has been the company’s first foray into the business insurance in the country, as said by the company ‘Superscript’ on Monday, 27th September 2021.

The members of the Business Prime program of Amazon is going to be able to purchase the cover from the company ‘Superscript’ such as the cyber insurance, contents insurance and the professional indemnity insurance, that a spokesperson of Superscript said, is going to be underwritten by some of the major insurers in the United Kingdom, and they are going to be offered a discount of 20 percent to the current rates as a way of enticing the businesses over to the customers.

According to a survey, over 50 percent of the customers that are prepared to purchase the insurance from the non-traditional companies like the insurance technology companies. Cameron Shearer, CEO and co-founder of Superscript said, the insurance industry has been needing to bridge the gap between the customers and insurers by providing a smooth and quick buying process, which has been customer centric.

This move of Amazon in the business insurance of the United Kingdom has been coming after the insurance technology company ‘Next Insurance’ based in the United States said, it had been offering the cover to the small businesses of the United States through the Amazon Business Prime.

Molly Dobson, country manager for Amazon Business in Ireland and United Kingdom said, as the businesses came out of the novel corona virus pandemic, they want their customers to have the best tools for the purpose of running their business.
