Amazon to Invest in 274 Renewable Energy Projects Across Globe

The company ‘Amazon’ announced 18 new utility scale solar and wind energy projects across the countries including the United States, Germany, Finland, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom, which is a making a total of 5.6 gigawats of the procured capacity until now in 2021. Now Amazon is having 274 renewable energy projects across the globe and it is also on a path for powering 100 percent of the company’s business operations with the renewable energy by the year 2024.

These new wind and solar energy projects are going to be bringing the total committed renewable electricity production of Amazon to over 12 gigawatts and 33,700 gigawatt hours, when the renewable energy projects will be becoming fully operational, and the output of the electricity will be equivalent to power over 3 million homes in the United States every year.

These renewable energy projects are going to supply the renewable energy for the corporate offices, along with the fulfilment centers, and also the data centers of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) that has been supporting million of the Amazon customers across the globe.

Kara Hurst, vice president of the worldwide sustainability at Amazon said, they are now moving very quickly and deliberately for the purpose of decreasing their carbon emissions along with addressing the climate crisis across the globe, and the company has made significant investments in the renewable energy across the globe and are also an important step in delivering on the pledge of climate, and their commitment for reaching the target of net-zero by 2040.
