100,000 doses of Janssen COVID-19 Delivered to Ukraine

A total of 100,000 doses of the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine were delivered to Ukraine in August 2022 under the COVAX initiative, and have been distributed to 22 regions in the country by the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Jarno Habicht, WHO representative in Ukraine, said these vaccines will further provide protection against COVID-19, and they are working continuously with the Ministry of Health, and health professionals to make sure that people in Ukraine have access to the vaccines.

WHO has urged everyone to use the opportunity to protect themselves and others. The COVAX initiative also aims to ensure fair and equitable access to vaccines against COVID-19 for every country in the world.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is working with the partners and manufacturers on the procurement and logistics of COVID-19 vaccines for COVAX. The World Health Organization (WHO) in Ukraine has trained over 100 medical workers and trainers across the country to conduct training on the use COVID-19 vaccine.

 Ihor Kuzin, deputy minister of health of Ukraine, said they are grateful to their international partners for their support to Ukraine, and they know that COVID-19 has not disappeared, and they continue to record an increasing number of new cases of COVID-19.
