Downing of Russian Plane in Syria, Putin Pardons Israel

WORLD

Kremlin officials reported about the Syrian forces accidentally shooting a Russian military plane which is said to be the vilest ‘friendly fire’ for Russia, killing 15 of the Russian officials as stated by the Russian Defence Ministry. This attack happened after an airstrike on Syria by the Israeli forces.

Apart from Israel, Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin also blamed the Russian Ilyushin II-20 surveillance aircraft on “a chain of tragic accidental circumstances” for the crash. Portraying a peculiarity amid the downing of Russian fighter plane by Turkey in 2015, he alleged it as a “stab in the back delivered by the accomplices of terrorists” and about the recent Israeli attack, he said it is “because an Israeli plane didn’t shoot our plane down.

Nonetheless, the Russian Defense Ministry, previously, had been accusing Israel of hiding its F-16s behind the Russian plane. Russia also conferred that Israel is responsible for disrespecting the coordination system for the countries, which makes sure to avoid such kind of accidents by giving a notice just before a minute before the fighters crashed into the Syrian air base.

Sergei K. Shoigu, Russian Defense Minister, gave his statement on Tuesday: “Israel had deliberately used the Russian surveillance plane as cover for its own warplanes on the assumption that Syria’s air defenses would not be operating in that area.”

During a telephonic conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as stated by the Kremlin officials, criticised the Israeli Air Force that had debased Syria’s dominion. He said, “Russian-Israeli agreements on preventing dangerous incidents had not been observed, either, and that resulted in the Russian aircraft coming under Syrian air defense fire.”
